The short answer, using Ava Travel's own prices: two weeks is enough to travel Vietnam from Hanoi to Saigon at a comfortable pace: 4 days around Hanoi, Ninh Binh and a night on Halong Bay, 4 days in Hoi An and Hue, and 4 to 5 days in Saigon and the Mekong Delta, with two domestic flights. As a private tour with Ava Travel for two people that costs about $1,835 per person, land only. Below are four real 2-week routes we run, day by day, with the hotel for every night.
The four routes at a glance
| Route | Length | Best for | Per person, 2 sharing (Ava Travel) | Per person, 4 sharing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The classic north to south | 14 days | First trip, want the big names: Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An, Hue, Saigon and the Mekong Delta | $1,835 | $1,471 |
| Mountains and the centre, no south | 14 days | You would rather walk rice terraces in Sapa than sit in Saigon traffic | $1,634 | $1,282 |
| North to south with three beach days | 15 days | The classic route, then three free days on Phu Quoc island before the flight home | $1,961 | $1,638 |
| 5-star with two nights on the bay | 14 days | Honeymoon or a special trip: 5-star hotels throughout and a 3 day 2 night cruise | $2,813 | $2,437 |
All four include a private guide and car, hotels with breakfast, entrance fees and one cruise on the bay. International flights, most domestic flights, the US$25 e-visa and most dinners are extra. For how these prices compare across all our tours, see how much a private Vietnam tour costs.

- First time in Vietnam, want to see it all: the classic north to south.
- You like walking and landscapes more than cities: mountains and the centre.
- You need a rest at the end: north to south with beach days.
- A honeymoon or a milestone trip: the 5-star route, or the classic route with only the cruise and beach upgraded, which costs far less.

Frequently asked questions
Is 2 weeks enough for Vietnam?
Yes, for the main highlights from Hanoi to Saigon at a comfortable pace with two domestic flights. You will not also fit in the far north mountains and a beach without rushing, so pick one of those extras.
How much does a 2-week Vietnam trip cost?
Ava Travel's 2-week private tours cost about $1,634 to $2,813 per person for two people sharing, land only, depending on route and hotels. Four people travelling together pay about a fifth less each.
Should I travel north to south or south to north?
It makes little difference to the price. Choose by where you want the most time and which flights suit you. Either way, the centre (Hue, Hoi An) is at its wettest from about October to December.
Can I change these itineraries?
Yes, they are private tours, so every day can be changed: add a night, swap a hotel, drop a flight. We re-price the route you actually want.
