Who needs this
Travellers from Australia, the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, India and most other countries need a visa for Vietnam. Passports from the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Nordic countries, Japan, Korea and 12 more European countries can stay up to 45 days without one; they only need an e-visa to stay longer or to be sure of re-entry after a side trip. Check your passport in our Vietnam visa guide.
What you need
- A clear photo or scan of your passport photo page. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after you arrive and have 2 blank pages.
- A recent passport-style photo: face straight on, white background, no glasses.
- Your arrival and departure dates and the airport or land border you will use.
- Your first hotel address in Vietnam, email and phone number.
You send the passport and photo after payment, by email or WhatsApp. We use them only to apply for your visa and, if you travel with us, to book your cruise and hotels. We never ask for card details by email or chat.
How it works
- 1. Book and pay above. You get an order confirmation by email.
- 2. Send your documents. We email you within 1 hour to collect your passport photo page and photo.
- 3. Check the details. We send you the filled-in form to confirm before we submit it.
- 4. Receive your e-visa as a PDF within the processing time you chose. Print it and keep it with your passport.
Cancellation and refund
- Before we submit your application: cancel for a full refund.
- After we submit it: no refund, whatever the outcome. The decision belongs to Vietnam's Immigration Department, and the government fee is never refunded.
- A mistake on the visa that was ours: we apply again at our cost.
- Free for Ava Travel guests: book a private tour or a Halong Bay cruise with us and the Standard service is free; you pay only the $25 or $50 government fee.
You can always apply yourself on the government website evisa.gov.vn for $25. Our service is for travellers who want someone in Vietnam to check the form, or need the visa fast.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a Vietnam e-visa cost?
The government fee is $25 for single entry and $50 for multiple entry if you apply yourself on evisa.gov.vn. With Ava Travel, a standard single-entry e-visa costs $40 including the government fee, and the same day service costs $140.
Can I get a Vietnam e-visa urgently?
Yes. Ava Travel can get a Vietnam e-visa in 2 working days ($75), 1 working day ($115) or the same day ($140), single entry, government fee included. Message us before booking for a weekend or public holiday arrival.
Is the e-visa from Ava Travel the same as the official one?
Yes. We submit your application on the government system and you receive the same official e-visa PDF you would get by applying yourself.
Is it safe to use an agency for a Vietnam e-visa?
Use a registered company that takes card payment, shows the government fee and sends you the official PDF. Ava Travel is registered as AVA TRAVEL AGENCY CO.,LTD (tax code 0111323415) in Hanoi.
What if my visa is refused?
Once the application is submitted it is not refundable: the decision belongs to Vietnam's Immigration Department. If the refusal came from a mistake Ava Travel made on the form, we apply again at our cost.
Do I need a visa for a Halong Bay cruise?
No separate visa. Your Vietnam e-visa or visa-free stamp covers the cruise, but the cruise line needs your passport details. If you book the cruise with Ava Travel, the standard e-visa service is free.
