Halong Bay cruise overview

Paradise Legacy launched in 2025 with 42 cabins, the largest ship Ava sells on Halong Bay.

What size gets you here

A named restaurant (Elegance), a proper Grand Sundeck, a tender kept for excursions so the ship never has to move for a cave visit, and a hull steady enough that nobody in the group has to think about it. Check-in is at Tuan Chau Cruise Port and lunch on day one is a buffet rather than a set menu.

Ava also sells Paradise Grand, the 39-cabin sister on the quieter bay to the south, from $310. Legacy is the newer ship and works Halong proper, with Sung Sot Cave on the second morning. Grand is on the quieter bay. Pick by which water you want.

Choosing a cabin

Deluxe and Executive Balcony are both 28 sqm, $370 and $390, so that $20 is deck position rather than space.

The Legacy Suite at 48 sqm for $480 is the honest upgrade: $110 over the cheapest room for nearly twice the floor.

At the top sits the Gallery Suite, 140 sqm at $1,100. Every cabin on board has a balcony.

Before you book

Meals, entrance fees, kayaking, Tai Chi and the cooking class are in the fare. Spa is charged on board. Transfer from Hanoi is separate.

Ava confirms your cabin and pickup within one hour of booking.

Is Paradise Legacy Cruise worth it? Our 2026 verdict

Paradise Legacy Cruise is a 5-star cruise on Halong Bay with 42 cabins. It is worth it if you want what it does best: every cabin has a private balcony. The main thing to weigh up: there is no family room, so a family of four needs two cabins.

Good reasons to pick it

  • Every cabin has a private balcony.
  • The largest room, Gallery Suite, is 140 m² if you want real space.
  • It also runs a 3 days 2 nights trip, from $375 per person (May to September).

Worth knowing before you book

  • There is no family room, so a family of four needs two cabins.
  • 42 cabins makes it a big ship, so expect more people at each activity.

Best for: couples.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for planning a Halong Bay or Lan Ha Bay overnight cruise with Ava Travel.

Halong Bay is approximately 160km east of Hanoi, usually about a 3 to 3.5-hour drive by expressway. Ava Travel can arrange shared shuttle or private transfer from Hanoi and confirm the exact pickup time before you book.
Lan Ha Bay is the southern extension of Halong Bay, near Cat Ba Island. It has similar limestone scenery but often feels quieter. Many premium cruises operate around Lan Ha Bay for a calmer overnight route.
A 2-day / 1-night cruise works well if your schedule is short and you want the classic overnight experience. A 3-day / 2-night cruise gives more time for kayaking, swimming, remote areas, and a slower pace.
The best months are usually October to April, when the weather is cooler and drier. Summer can still be beautiful, but rain and storm changes are more common, so Ava Travel checks weather and operator updates before departure.
Most overnight cruises include cabin accommodation, onboard meals, entrance fees for the scheduled route, and activities such as kayaking, cave visits, swimming, cooking class, or squid fishing. Drinks, spa, tips, and transfers depend on the cruise package and are confirmed before payment.
Send Ava Travel your travel date, group size, and cabin preference. We check live availability, confirm the best current price, explain inclusions, and help you complete secure checkout once everything is clear.
