Bai Tu Long Bay cruise overview

Dragon Pearl is a wooden junk from 2010 with 10 cabins, working Bai Tu Long Bay.

Small boat, working village

Ten cabins means about twenty guests. Day two goes into Vung Vieng, one of the oldest floating villages in Bai Tu Long, and you go in on a small rowing boat rather than passing it at speed. You go through the floating school and the fish farms, close enough to see how the moorings work.

Ava sells two other ships that visit Vung Vieng, so here is the honest split. Dragon Legend is a 24-cabin ship at $400 — bigger, steadier, more facilities. Prince has four cabins at $440 — nearly private, and pricier. Dragon Pearl at $310 sits between them: a proper wooden junk, small enough to feel personal, and the cheapest of the three.

Choosing a cabin

One type: Deluxe, two people, no balcony, $310. No decision to make.

The operator does not publish the floor area. Ava will not guess; ask and we will get it from them before you book.

Before you book

Pickup is at 08:00 from your hotel and the transfer is not in the cabin price. It is a long drive out to Bai Tu Long, which is exactly why the bay stays quiet.

Meals, entrance fees and kayaking are in the fare. There is no spa and no cooking class on this boat.

Ava confirms your cabin and pickup within one hour of booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for planning a Halong Bay or Lan Ha Bay overnight cruise with Ava Travel.

Halong Bay is approximately 160km east of Hanoi, usually about a 3 to 3.5-hour drive by expressway. Ava Travel can arrange shared shuttle or private transfer from Hanoi and confirm the exact pickup time before you book.
Lan Ha Bay is the southern extension of Halong Bay, near Cat Ba Island. It has similar limestone scenery but often feels quieter. Many premium cruises operate around Lan Ha Bay for a calmer overnight route.
A 2-day / 1-night cruise works well if your schedule is short and you want the classic overnight experience. A 3-day / 2-night cruise gives more time for kayaking, swimming, remote areas, and a slower pace.
The best months are usually October to April, when the weather is cooler and drier. Summer can still be beautiful, but rain and storm changes are more common, so Ava Travel checks weather and operator updates before departure.
Most overnight cruises include cabin accommodation, onboard meals, entrance fees for the scheduled route, and activities such as kayaking, cave visits, swimming, cooking class, or squid fishing. Drinks, spa, tips, and transfers depend on the cruise package and are confirmed before payment.
Send Ava Travel your travel date, group size, and cabin preference. We check live availability, confirm the best current price, explain inclusions, and help you complete secure checkout once everything is clear.
