An honest note: the tour starts in Ben Tre, not in Saigon. The car from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and back is not in this price, and the road takes roughly two hours each way, so it is a long day. Tell us when you book and we add a private car.

Ben Tre by boat, bicycle, sampan and trishaw
Meals: lunch.
- 10:00 meet your local guide at the meeting point and walk a short way through the village, past houses and gardens, to the pier.
- Board your private day boat and cruise the smaller tributaries of Ben Tre for about 30 minutes.
- Stop at a coconut garden for a fresh coconut, then at a coconut processing yard, and set off by bicycle for about 4 km around the village, with a stop at a brick kiln that still works by hand.
- Cross the river and a rower takes you by sampan through narrow water coconut canals for about 15 minutes, to a local garden for hot tea, coconut candy and snacks.
- Ride a xe loi, the local motor trishaw, along narrow lanes under the coconut palms, then back to your boat.
- Five-course lunch at a riverside restaurant, then cycle 500 m (or walk 7 to 10 minutes) to Mrs Sau Tuong's house to watch her make rice paper, the specialty of My Long village.
- 15:30 walk to the main road, where your car back to Saigon meets you.
