What Venus is good at
Space for the money. The entry cabin here is 40 sqm, larger than the top cabin on several ships costing twice as much. If floor area is what you care about, Venus is the best value on Lan Ha that Ava sells.
Being a bigger ship, it also holds steadier at anchor and has more deck to spread out on, which matters if you are travelling with children.
Choosing a cabin
This is the clearest upgrade on any ship we sell. The Senior Suite is 40 sqm at $300. The Executive Suite is 55 sqm at $320. Fifteen extra square metres for $20. Take the Executive.
The Premier is also 55 sqm and costs $360, so the extra $40 over the Executive buys position on the ship, not room. The Family Suite is 55 sqm as well, sleeps three with an extra bed, at $500.
Before you book
Check-in is at the waiting lounge on Tuan Chau Pier rather than on the quayside. Day two uses a bamboo boat rather than kayaks at Dark and Bright Cave, which suits anyone who would rather be rowed than paddle. You disembark around 11:00.
Meals, entrance fees, kayaking, Tai Chi and the cooking class are in the fare. On board there is also an outdoor pool, a fitness room and a spa.
