Children. We do not take children under 12 on the motorbike. For families, our private car tours cover the same area.

How it works

  1. Book and confirm. Pay at checkout or message us on WhatsApp first. We confirm your date, the meeting point and your guide within one hour, and tell you what to bring.
  2. On the bike. Your driver handles the road. You wear a helmet, keep your bag small and hold on. If you want to stop for a photo, tap your driver on the shoulder.

What to bring

  • Comfortable walking shoes with grip
  • A light long-sleeved layer against sun and dust on the road
  • Hat, sunscreen and sunglasses. The boats have no shade
  • Water, especially for the steps at Hang Mua
  • Rain jacket or poncho from June to September
  • Clothes that cover shoulders and knees for the temples and pagodas
  • Cash in Vietnamese dong for drinks, small purchases and a tip for your rower

Getting there

Your itinerary

Hoa Lu, Van Long and Han

Hoa Lu, Van Long and Hang Mua by motorbike

  • Meals: lunch.

    • Morning: pickup from your hotel in Tam Coc and out along the back roads.
    • Hoa Lu, the capital of Vietnam in the 10th century: the temples of King Dinh Tien Hoang and King Le Dai Hanh, in a quiet valley between the hills.
    • Van Long wetland reserve: a bamboo boat on the marsh below the cliffs, where Delacour's langurs are sometimes seen.
    • Lunch at a local restaurant, with vegetarian dishes on request.
    • Afternoon: through the villages and rice fields around Tam Coc.
    • Hang Mua: about 500 stone steps up to the viewpoint over Tam Coc. It takes 20 to 30 minutes and is steep in places, so bring water. The view down the valley is the one on every Ninh Binh postcard.
    • Back at your hotel in the late afternoon.
