Cu Chi Tunnels and Ho Chi Minh Half Day Tour

From
$45/ person

Today’s tour will begin at 8:00. After breakfast, drive away from the city center toward the Cu Chi district. Leaving the city behind, the scenery changes to views of rice paddies, villagers drying noodles by the side of the road, and other scenes typical of southern Vietnam.

Arrive at the entrance to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters (Viet Cong) during both the French and American wars. Listen to tunnel construction stories as you walk through the forest. Visit two sections of the tunnel where it is possible to crawl inside to experience first-hand what life was like living underground. There are also several other informative displays and war relics around the area to explore.

After this morning’s Cu Chi Tunnels tour, return to the city center in time for lunch. Then take a closer look at the city itself, starting at Reunification Hall. This fascinating building, once known as the Presidential Palace, is filled with history. Hear the story of how, on 30 April 1975, North Vietnamese tanks seized the building as Saigon fell. Continue to the Old Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral, two colonial-style monuments with intriguing pasts.

The day’s final stop is Ben Thanh Market. This city center market is one of the busiest. Rub shoulders with the locals while browsing the countless stalls selling fruits, tea, and dry goods.

Return to the hotel and reflect upon this incredible day of history and local culture.

Everything you need to know before booking your Halong Bay cruise

Halong Bay is approximately 160km east of Hanoi — about a 3.5 to 4-hour drive. All our cruise packages include round-trip transfers from Hanoi, so you don't need to arrange your own transport. We pick you up from your hotel.
Lan Ha Bay is the southern extension of Halong Bay, located near Cat Ba Island. It has the same stunning limestone karst scenery but receives far fewer tourists — giving you a more peaceful, uncrowded experience. Most of our premium cruises operate in Lan Ha Bay for this reason.
A 3-day / 2-night cruise is highly recommended if your schedule allows — you get a full day on the bay, time for kayaking, swimming, and exploring caves, plus a spectacular sunrise morning. A 2-day / 1-night cruise is a great option if time is limited and still gives you an authentic experience.
The best months are October to April, when the weather is dry and cooler. March and April offer warm weather with less rain. July and August are peak summer but can bring rain and occasional storms. We monitor weather conditions and will always advise you on timing before booking.
All meals on board, guided activities (kayaking, cave tours, cooking class), entrance fees, and return transfers from Hanoi are included. Alcoholic beverages and personal spending are not included. Check the "What's Included" tab above for the full list specific to this cruise.
