Halong Bay cruise overview
Bhaya is a wooden junk from 2009 with 20 cabins on Halong Bay. It is the oldest boat Ava sells here, and that is the point rather than a caveat.
An older boat, honestly described
Bhaya was built when Halong cruising still meant timber junks with red sails, before the bay filled with big modern ships carrying forty cabins and a jacuzzi. It has been maintained and refitted since, but it is a 2009 boat: the fittings are simpler than a 2025 ship and the cabins are more modest.
What you get instead is the look and the feel people picture when they imagine Halong, and a fleet with a long service record. If you want new and shiny, Ava will point you at Majesty Prime or Velar. If you want the classic junk, this is one of the last proper ones still working.
Choosing a cabin
Two types only. Deluxe at $240 has no balcony; Terrace Suite at $350 does. That $110 is the whole decision.

Picked up at your hotel for the 3-hour drive to Halong (transfer is not included in the cabin price). The road runs through hill country and paddy fields for most of it.
