Your itinerary
Saigon to Ben Tre: boat, bicycle, sampan and trishaw
Meals: lunch, dinner. Overnight: deluxe room at a riverside eco lodge in My Thanh village.
- 10:00 meet your local guide at the meeting point and walk through the village to the pier.
- Board your private day boat and cruise the smaller tributaries for about 30 minutes, then stop at a coconut garden for a fresh coconut.
- Visit a coconut processing yard and cycle about 4 km around the village, stopping at a kiln where bricks are still made by hand.
- A rowed sampan through the water coconut canals for about 15 minutes to a local garden for green tea, coconut candy and snacks, then a xe loi trishaw ride along the village lanes.
- Back on the boat to the lodge restaurant for lunch.
- The afternoon is free at the lodge, by the pool or the river, and dinner is at the lodge restaurant.
Rice wine, rice paper and back to Saigon
Meals: breakfast.
- Breakfast at the lodge restaurant.
- Walk or cycle about 500 m with your guide to Mr Ba Tai's house to see how rice wine is made.
- Then to Mrs Sau Tuong's house, where she makes rice paper, the best known specialty of My Long village.
- Back at the lodge, time for the pool or one of the sitting areas.
- 12:00 check out and your guide takes you to the meeting point, where your car back to Ho Chi Minh City waits.
