Lan Ha Bay cruise overview

Rita is a ship from 2022 with 34 cabins on Lan Ha Bay, one of the larger boats Ava sells here.

What Rita is good at

Two proper triple cabins, which is unusual. Most ships have one at best, and many have none. If you are two adults and a child, or three friends who do not want to share a bed, Rita gives you an actual choice rather than a single room to take or leave.

The transfer out to the ship is by speedboat rather than a slow tender, which trims the dead time at the start of the trip.

Choosing a cabin: the deck is the whole decision

Rita prices almost everything by deck rather than by room type. Senior Balcony is $330 on the lower deck and $350 on the upper. Senior Triple is $480 lower and $510 upper. The rooms are otherwise the same.

Upper deck means a better view over the rail and less engine noise. Lower deck means less walking and a steadier feel in a swell. Twenty dollars either way.

Above those sit the Royal Suite VIP at $500 for two and the President Suite at $620.

One caveat: the operator does not publish floor areas for this ship. If square metres matter to your decision, ask Ava and we will get the numbers from the operator in writing before you book.

Before you book

Check-in happens at the port before you board. Day two stops at the Frog Pond area for about 45 minutes of swimming or kayaking, then it is lunch on the way back in.

Meals, entrance fees, kayaking, Tai Chi and the cooking class are in the fare. On board there is also a massage and spa room, a fitness centre and mini golf.

Ava confirms your cabin and pickup within one hour of booking.

Is Rita Cruise worth it? Our 2026 verdict

Rita Cruise is a 5-star cruise on Lan Ha Bay with 34 cabins. It is worth it if you want what it does best: every cabin has a private balcony. The main thing to weigh up: 34 cabins makes it a big ship, so expect more people at each activity.

Good reasons to pick it

  • Every cabin has a private balcony.
  • Family rooms are sold per room, not per head: Senior Triple (lower deck) takes 3 guests for $480 in total from May to September, about $160 each.
  • It also runs a 3 days 2 nights trip, from $322 per person (May to September).

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for planning a Halong Bay or Lan Ha Bay overnight cruise with Ava Travel.

Halong Bay is approximately 160km east of Hanoi, usually about a 3 to 3.5-hour drive by expressway. Ava Travel can arrange shared shuttle or private transfer from Hanoi and confirm the exact pickup time before you book.
Lan Ha Bay is the southern extension of Halong Bay, near Cat Ba Island. It has similar limestone scenery but often feels quieter. Many premium cruises operate around Lan Ha Bay for a calmer overnight route.
A 2-day / 1-night cruise works well if your schedule is short and you want the classic overnight experience. A 3-day / 2-night cruise gives more time for kayaking, swimming, remote areas, and a slower pace.
The best months are usually October to April, when the weather is cooler and drier. Summer can still be beautiful, but rain and storm changes are more common, so Ava Travel checks weather and operator updates before departure.
Most overnight cruises include cabin accommodation, onboard meals, entrance fees for the scheduled route, and activities such as kayaking, cave visits, swimming, cooking class, or squid fishing. Drinks, spa, tips, and transfers depend on the cruise package and are confirmed before payment.
Send Ava Travel your travel date, group size, and cabin preference. We check live availability, confirm the best current price, explain inclusions, and help you complete secure checkout once everything is clear.
