Why Bai Tu Long is different
Bai Tu Long has the same limestone karsts as Halong Bay but a fraction of the traffic, because most operators do not hold a licence for it. Anchorages are emptier and the caves are less busy. Swan sails much the same route, at one price all year.
Two cabins, a big gap between them
Deluxe Ocean View is 14 sqm, from $132 per person. Suite Ocean View Balcony is 43 sqm with a balcony, from $165.
Fourteen square metres is the smallest cabin Ava sells anywhere. Forty-three is triple that, and it costs $33 more per person. There is very little reason to take the Deluxe unless the boat is full.
On board
Restaurant and sundeck, with a cooking class, kayaking and squid fishing. No spa, no pool. This is a traditional junk, not a floating hotel.
