Halong Bay cruise overview
Victory Cruise is a 2007 boat with 21 cabins working the Halong Bay route. It sells one cabin type only, the 16 sqm Deluxe Ocean View, from $111 per person.
Victory or Victory Star?
Ava sells both. They are the same age and the same size, 2007 and 21 cabins, and the difference is the cabin rather than the boat.
Victory gives you 16 sqm and no balcony. Victory Star starts at 24 sqm with a balcony for $130, and goes up to a 35 sqm President Suite at $185. Twenty dollars buys eight square metres and a balcony.
Take Victory only if the twenty dollars matters more than the balcony. Otherwise Victory Star is the better boat for very little more.
The single cabin
Deluxe Ocean View, 16 sqm, double bed or two beds, two adults. That is the whole choice. Sixteen square metres is small by Halong standards. Victory Star, the sister boat, starts at 24 sqm and Ambassador at 30, so pack light and expect the cabin to be for sleeping rather than sitting.
On board
Restaurant, bar, a small massage spa and sundeck, with a cooking class, kayaking and squid fishing during the overnight stop.
